Data Set Overview – Inside Airbnb
Inside Airbnb is an open-source website providing detailed information regarding Airbnb listings from cities from all over the world, from Holland to Cape Town. For every city, there are separate data sets focusing on different aspects of the rental properties including detailed listing information, renter reviews, and the neighborhood of Airbnbs. The data set also includes summarized, aggregate versions of the previously listed.
In addition to tabular data, Inside Airbnb provides maps and other visualizations to help users better explore and understand the information presented in the data sets. According to the website, the creators used tools such as PostgreSQL, Python, and D3 to collect and compile the data sets and Mapbox to create maps in the data exploration sections. The site itself is served through an AWS S3 bucket.
